"Our health, our environment, and our economy depend on
high quality water in the Big Thompson River Watershed."

The Big Thompson River is a valuable resource in Larimer and Weld Counties. Thousands of people depend on this water for drinking, business, agriculture, recreation, and tourism. In addition to its importance as a water supply, a healthy Big Thompson River provides aesthetic and environmental benefits enjoyed by residents and visitors alike.

Big Thompson River Revival & Fall Clean-Up

The City of Loveland and Big Thompson Watershed Forum held its annual River Revival and Fall clean-up on Saturday, September 25, 2010.  We had a wonderful day of sunshine, fun, games, educational booths and protecting the Big Thompson River.  This year the primary focus for the event was not on removing trash, but on having some fun and educating the public about what they can do to improve the water quality of stormwater runoff in and around their homes throughout the community. By the end of the day, approximately 1/2 ton of trash was removed from within and along the Big Thompson River with 73 volunteers comprised by Bill Reed Middle School, Colorado State University, City of Loveland, City of Greeley and the Big Thompson Watershed Forum.
