BTWF Welcomes New Newsletter Editor

This issue marks the debut of newsletter editor Barb Maynard. Barb is a freelance science writer living in Laporte; she is also a coordinator for the teaching laboratories in the Department of Biology at Colorado State University. Barb’s introduction to BTWF was serendipitous: around the time that the Forum was looking for a new editor, Barb interviewed Rob Buirgy for a story she was writing about River Watch, the Colorado Division of Wildlife program that involves secondary school students in monitoring rivers across the state.

Working for the Forum fits with Barb’s long-held interest in environmental issues and her love of the water. She enjoys sailing, canoeing, and fly fishing whenever she gets the chance. Barb has written for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, the American Chemical Society, the North Forty News and the Fort Collins Coloradoan, amongst other publications.

Barb enjoyed meeting and talking with Forum members and concerned citizens at the Thompson River Revival; she considers that an inspiring introduction to the goals and energy behind BTWF. Barb has a B.S. in Animal Behavior from Bucknell University and an M.S. and a Ph.D. in Zoology from Colorado State University.
